A 23-year-old woman, Abigail Victor, was on Wednesday arraigned by the Nigeria Police before a Kaduna Magistrate’s Court for allegedly st@bbing her boyfriend during a domestic dispute over cheating allegations.

Abigail, who resides in Ungwan Sunday, in Kaduna State, is facing a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and causing bodily harm, preferred against her by the Police.

The Prosecutor, Inspector Chidi Leo, told the court that the incident occurred on May 17, 2025, at Sabon Tasha, Kaduna.

He told the court that Abigail, following a misunderstanding with her boyfriend, Dominic James, accused him of infidelity

“In anger, she reportedly called two friends who joined her at the complainant’s residence, where they allegedly beat him and st@bbed him in the shoulder with a knife,” Leo said.

The prosecutor also added that neighbours intervened and rushed the injured Dominic to the hospital for treatment.

According to him, the offences committed are contrary to Sections 58 and 284 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law, 2017.

Section 58 provides for a one-year prison sentence on conviction for conspiracy, while Section 284 carries a minimum of five years imprisonment for causing injury.

However, Abigail pleaded not guilty to the charges against her.

Magistrate Ibrahim Emmanuel granted her bail in the sum of N200,000, with one surety in like sum.

The court ordered that the surety must be a blood relative and present evidence of three years of tax clearance from the Kaduna State Government.

Magistrate Emmanuel consequently adjourned the case to June 17, 2025, for a hearing.
