Aisha Maikudi, the University of Abuja’s youngest law professor, has been named acting vice chancellor by the Senate of the university.
Maikudi currently serving as the university’s Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academics, a professor of international law.
In a statement, departing Vice Chancellor Prof. Abdul-Rasheed stated that her appointment was made after her nomination at the concluding Senate meeting on Wednesday.
Alhamdulillah.Maikudi’s appointment was described by Na’Allah as being in a “temporary capacity effective after the tenure of the current vice-chancellor, pending the Governing Council’s ratification.”After serving as the institution’s leader for five years, Na’Allah will conclude his term on June 30, 2024.
During her acceptance speech, Maikudi expressed her gratitude to the Senate for their trust in her.
“I want to express my sincere respect and gratitude to each and every one of you for the strong support and unwavering commitment that you have shown me,” the woman stated.
Maikudi was born on January 31, 1983.
Her West African Senior School Certificate was earned while she was a student at Queens College in Lagos.
After attending the University of Reading, she earned an LLB in 2004 and an LLM in 2005 from the London School of Economics & Political Science. She also went on to the University of Abuja, where she graduated in 2015 with a PhD in international law.
On September 4, 2008, Maikudi began working at the University of Abuja as a Lecturer II. By 2022, he had attained the level of Professor.
In 2018, she was appointed as the university’s first female deputy dean in the Faculty of Law. In 2019, she was the first female director of the University of Abuja International Center.
In addition to conducting numerous studies on United Nations law and penning a substantial body of writing in the field, Maikudi has attended numerous national and international conferences in the US, UK, South Africa, Germany, Italy, and Egypt, among other places.
