Two alleged kidnappers were apprehended by agents of the Adamawa State Police Command, which is a division of the State Intelligence Department (SID), using SIM cards from different GSM networks and cellphones.
In a statement released, the command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, said recently, the command received a report on May 28th from one Kinsley Eze a resident of Gurin, in Fufore Local Government Area, that he received several calls from unknown subscribers who threatened to kidnap and kill him unless he paid three million naira (N3,000,000) .
Two individuals were apprehended when the Command’s Operatives launched an inquiry right away. The suspects, Abuchi Godwin Ayogo, 32, and David Francis, 33, who live in Garin Gidado Village in Taraba State’s Gassol Local Government Area, have been detained.
They both admitted to committing the crime and, interestingly, to being a part of a renowned kidnapping ring that operated in Taraba and a portion of Adamawa State. Exhibits were used to display items that have been retrieved from the suspects thus far.
According to Nguroje, the two alleged kidnappers’ arrests demonstrate the Command’s unshakable dedication to eliminating all criminal activity and restoring confidence to the people of the state.
He stated that the state’s commissioner of police, CP Dankombo Morris, urged the public to maintain their vigilance and to constantly supply security agencies with pertinent and timely information about any suspicious activity occurring in their communities, all the while promising that the suspects would face harsh punishment.
