After making it to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, or AFCON, semifinals, the Super Eagles of Nigeria have already received an incredible $2.5 million in prize money.

One day before to the competition starting, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) declared a forty percent increase in prize money.

Prize money is not the same as the bonuses and allowances that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) provided to its players.

The AFCON champion will take home $7 million, while the losing finalists will take home $4 million.

Round of 16 qualifiers received $800,000 per team, while quarterfinalists would receive $1.3 million apiece. The Nigeria Football Federation receives the funds from CAF and distributes them to the players and staff.

At the Stade de la Paix in Bouake on Wednesday, the Super Eagles of Nigeria will play the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in the semi-final.
