A prominent Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Mr Frank Oputu, has been murdered by suspected assassins in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
Frank Oputu was murdered by gun men who invaded his residence at Bay-Bridge, Yenezue-gene, Yenagoa around 11:40 pm on Tuesday.
Frank Oputu was one of the figures behind a suit that was filed at the Bayelsa State High court to challenge the legality of the APC ward, local government and state Congresses in the state.
A top political figure in the state confirmed his assassination to the Network on the telephone on a Tuesday .
The source expressed deep worry over the killing of the outspoken APC Chieftain from Igbomotoru in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of the State.
Oputu had condemned in strong terms the invasion of the State High Court and the assault on the presiding judge,
Justice Nayai Aganaba, who was set to deliver a judgment on the suit.
The APC Chieftain had vowed to endure that the suit was pursued to a logical conclusion.
Media reports had it that, Frank-Oputu who had served as State Chairman of the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP), was shot dead through his window, while asleep by yet-to-be identified gunmen.
