Crystal Palace are trying to seal a permanent transfer for Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson, according to a report.
The Mirror claim that Palace manager Sam Allardyce is keen to rush through a deal for the 24-year-old and hopes to complete it in time for the club’s weekend fixtures. It is understood that they are trying to negotiate a fee with the Gunners rather than a complete a loan move.
The report details that Watford, Aston Villa, Swansea and West Ham have also been linked with the defender, who has 18 months remaining on his contract. Palace play the Hammers on Saturday in their next game and will hope to have Jenkinson available for them. Allardyce previously worked with the defender during a spell at West Ham and is keen on a reunion with him.
Jenkinson has endured a frustrating season for Arsenal and has made just five senior appearances, with only one of them coming in the Premier League. The right-back faces an almost impossible task to dislodge Hector Bellerin from the starting XI, while team-mate Gabriel has also been preferred to him at full-back recently.
