Chelsea paid Mikel Obi £2m

ohn Mikel Obi was reportedly paid £2m (N763m) by Chelsea as a severance package unpo his move to Chinese club Tianjin TEDA. According to OwngoalNigeria, the fee was to the Super Eagles captain in recognition to his services for 10 and a half years. The fee was calculated as the remaining six months of his Chelsea contract up front which was expected to expire in the summer.

Mikel is thought to be earning £140,000-a-week with his new club.

The Nigerian has been in west London for 11 seasons, winning two Premier League titles, the Champions League and a handful of domestic trophies.
