According to Forbes on Monday, retired actress Dalyce Curry, who starred in films like “The Blues Brothers,” “The Ten Commandments,” and “Lady Sings the Blues,” has perished in the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles.
She was ninety-five.
Curry’s remains were discovered at her burned-out Altadena, California, home, according to authorities.
Her great-granddaughter, Dalyce Kelley, claims that Curry was last seen when Kelley left her off at home on the evening of January 7.
When Kelley tried to visit her the next morning, he was unable to get past police barricades in the vicinity.
Curry was not found despite the family searching the Pasadena Civic Centre, which had been used as a shelter for displaced citizens.
Her remains were found at the location of her demolished home, authorities confirmed a few days later.
“About an hour ago the coroner confirmed her remains were indeed found at the property. #RIPMOMMADEE,” Kelley, wrote on Facebook on Sunday, January 12. “We had a great run. She impacted my life in so many ways. This loss is devastating.”
“She was very active,” said her granddaughter Loree Beamer-Wilkinson. “You would not think she was 95.”
Curry’s passing is one of at least 24 fatalities reported in the Los Angeles area as a result of the fires.
