The integrity of SP Rilwan Kasumu and his squad from the police tactical unit attached to Area K, Marogbo, Lagos State Command, was praised by Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun for turning down a ₦4 million bribe while looking into a case involving the possession of ammunition and drug sales.
This was revealed by the Police Force PRO, Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
He clarified that the crew captured 42-year-old Esther Newman Obiekezie, popularly known as Candy, on February 6, 2024, at her home on No. 6 Mojirade Street, Ilogbo Lagos.
Along with live AK-47 ammunition, a sizable amount of ICE was discovered during the arrest.
Adejobi further stated that Akete Esther, 43, and Oke Okebalam, 49, went to the Ijanikin police station in an effort to get Esther Newman Obiekezie released during the investigation that followed.
He clarified that they begged for an end to police intervention in Esther’s illicit drug-selling enterprise and offered a bribe of ₦4 million.
But the policeman turned down the bribe, took the money, and filed it away as evidence.
