Donald Trump has branded Madonna “disgusting” after her comments about “blowing up the White House” during her Women’s March speech.
The 58-year-old singer made the comment on stage in Washington D.C after President Donald Trump’s inauguration last weekend and in an interview with Fox’s Sean Hannity on Thursday night, the US President hit back, saying: “Honestly, she’s disgusting. I think she hurt herself very badly. I think she hurt that whole cause.
“I thought her and a couple of others. But I thought she was in particular, I thought what she said was disgraceful to our country.”
Madonna rallied the 500,000 strong crowd in the US capital and called for a “revolution”.
She said: ” ‘Good’ didn’t win this election, but ‘good’ will win in the end. So what today means is that we are far from the end. Today marks the beginning of our story.
“The revolution starts here. The fight for the right to be free, to be who we are, to be equal. Let’s march together through this darkness and with each step know that we are not afraid, that we are not alone, that we will not back down.
“And to our detractors that insist that this march will never add up to anything, f**k you! Yes, I have thought an awful lot about blowing up the White House.”
However, the ‘Material Girl’ hitmaker later took to Instagram to insist the comment was “taken wildly out of context”.
She shared: “However I want to clarify some very important things. I am not a violent person, I do not promote violence and it’s important people hear and understand my speech in it’s entirety rather than one phrase taken wildly out of context.”
In the same interview, Donald Trump spoke of Barack Obama and the gracious way he handed over to him.
He said: “What amazed me is that I was vicious to him in statements, he was vicious to me in statements, and here we are getting along, we’re riding up Pennsylvania Avenue talk, we don’t even mention it.
“I guess that’s the world of politics. But I was tough on him, he was tough on me and I like him, he likes me. I think he likes me. I mean, you’re going to have to ask him but I think he likes me.”
