ENUGU—Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, a fiery Catholic priest and the founder of the Adoration Ministry, Enugu, AMEN, has urged President Bola Tinubu to take a seat and carry out his pledges made during the election campaign to address poverty and insecurity in Nigeria.

The priest made the plea on Sunday during a sermon at the Adoration Ground in Emene, Enugu. He claimed that in light of Nigeria’s growing levels of poverty and insecurity, Nigerians’ expectations of the President Tinubu-led administration had not been met.

According to Mbaka, the President has not demonstrated political will to address the nation’s issues since taking office in May of last year.

Father Mbaka said Tinubu was not demonstrating the will to stomp on toes and end the sad scenario, although acknowledging that there were challenges in his way to becoming president and in addressing the numerous issues the nation faces.

“Mr. President, you can do it; if the leader has the willpower, fixing Nigeria is not difficult,” Mbaka remarked. Let it be, even though I know this will make national news. What’s going on with the oil industry? How many dollars are in the Nigerian account and how many barrels are being produced?

How much are we saving compared to a nation like Nigeria that exports millions of barrels of oil every month?

“Why is it so hard to fix other refineries right now? The cabals: who are they?
They could be de-canibalized, right?
If the president has the willpower, it is possible to de-cannibalize cabals; heaven and hell won’t collapse.

“These people can go to jail; why are you protecting them when many of them did not support you?” God is watching you, Mr. President, to see what you canaccomplish. Wake up.

“Go to our schools and observe how dirty the government schools are. Our hearts are torn.

Are we taking care of our physicians and teachers? Observe how they start earning money in pounds and dollars when they fly overseas.

“There is heartbreak everywhere; observe our police and military; they too have broken hearts; what kind of weapons are the police officers carrying? The police on the watchpost will be killed, their guns taken, and they will flee as the senior squad passes. What occurs to their families in the event that
their spouses pass away while serving?

“No recompense; they chase them out of the barracks the next minute; what is happening to their family back home for those who are fighting Boko Haram in the Borno forest? Who’s looking after them?

“They are attacking those with bombs with catapults; those they are fighting are carrying launchers; their family members’ hearts are broken, destroyed.
We are still burying a great number of young guys; there is uncertainty everywhere.

We’re inviting people to visit the farm and harvest, but if they do, AK-47-wielding herders will break in and murder the farmers. After that, who will visit the farm?

“Hunger, as I have stated to you over the past two years, has not even begun; I will not lie to you; everyone ought to be actively involved, take up a cause.”
