Judge Arun Subramanian denied bail for Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, ordering that the music mogul remain in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn as he awaits sentencing.
In his ruling, the judge noted that Combs and his legal team did not sufficiently prove that he poses “no danger to anyone,” which is a crucial condition for release before sentencing, according to The Mirror US.
Combs is requesting release on a $1 million bond as he awaits sentencing, where he faces up to 20 years in prison. As part of the proposed bail conditions, his legal team has offered that he surrender his passport and restrict his travel to California, Florida, New York, and New Jersey.
The request comes after Diddy was convicted on two of five charges, with the jury delivering a unanimous verdict after three days of deliberations.
The Bad Boy Records founder was indicted on five charges across three separate federal cases, including sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and transportation for the purpose of prostitution. He pleaded not guilty to all counts and maintains his innocence, denying both the criminal allegations and those brought against him in related civil lawsuits.
Judge Arun Subramanian has denied bail for Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, ordering the music mogul to remain in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn as he awaits sentencing.
In his ruling, the judge said Combs and his legal team failed to prove he poses “no danger to any person,” which is a crucial requirement for pre-sentencing release, The Mirror US reported.
The judge acknowledged that Combs has already spent nearly 10 months in jail, which will count toward his final sentence. Although sentencing is tentatively scheduled for October, the court indicated it is open to considering alternative dates if necessary.
Combs had sought release on a $1 million bond while awaiting sentencing, where he faces up to 20 years in prison. As part of his bail proposal, his defense team offered to surrender his passport and restrict his movements to California, Florida, New York, and New Jersey.

He pleaded not guilty to all charges and continues to deny any wrongdoing, including allegations made in related civil suits.
Outside the courthouse, a crowd of supporters initially erupted in celebration after the verdict, dancing and spraying baby oil in the streets. However, tensions quickly escalated as confrontations broke out between Diddy’s supporters and his critics.
In further explaining his decision, Judge Subramanian pointed to Combs’ “propensity for violence behind closed doors” as a significant factor in denying bail.
According to CNN, the judge cited Diddy’s history of violent behavior and repeated disregard for the law as reasons to keep him in custody. Subramanian specifically referenced hotel surveillance footage showing Diddy assaulting Cassie Ventura — describing it as a clear case of domestic violence — as well as a separate incident from June 2024, in which he allegedly attacked “Jane,” another victim in the case.
According to The New York Times, the judge ruled that the narrow exception to mandatory detention did not apply in Diddy’s case. While the rapper cited his duties as a father and son in his plea for release, the judge determined that these were not sufficient grounds for an exception.
The judge also noted that during the trial, “the defense conceded” Sean Combs’s history of violence in his personal relationships. In his closing argument, Combs’s lead attorney, Marc Agnifilo, admitted as much, stating plainly: “We own it.”
