Bob Amadi, a Nigerian medical student at the American International University in Saint Lucia, described his meeting with President Bola Tinubu and Prime Minister Philip Pierre as a truly inspiring experience. Mr. Amadi, currently preparing for the clinical phase of his medical training at the American International University in Saint Lucia, had a remarkable encounter with President Tinubu and Prime Minister Pierre on the second day of the Nigerian leader’s state visit to the Caribbean nation.
Mr. Amadi, who works part-time as a talent and brand manager for a local catering and entertainment company, was among the staff selected to provide services during President Tinubu’s courtesy visit to the Prime Minister’s official residence.
During the visit, members of the Prime Minister’s staff mentioned that one of the service team members was a Nigerian student.
At the start of his discussions with President Tinubu, Prime Minister Pierre introduced Mr. Amadi—originally from Rivers State—to the Nigerian President.
President Tinubu took a moment to engage the young man, asking his name, background, and how he was faring. He offered his best wishes for the student’s studies and pursuits in Saint Lucia.
Later, the medical student was invited to join both leaders for a group photograph. This is a truly inspiring moment for me. Saint Lucia is an incredible island—I would describe it as a beautiful and peaceful place. The people are content, and life here feels calm and balanced,” he said. Reflecting on the relationship between Nigeria and Saint Lucia, Mr. Amadi remarked, “We’ve always believed there are vast opportunities between both nations. Our cultures and food crops are quite similar, and the bond runs deep.”
