The Director-General, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Maj.- Gen. Ibrahim Shuaibu has urged the Corp members to see the NYSC oath of allegience as significant and everlasting in their life even beyond their service year.
Shuaibu made the call at the swearing in ceremony of 2022 Batch A stream 2 youth corps members at the NYSC permanent camp Kubwa in Abuja on Wednesday.
The director general, who was represented by the FCT Coordinator , Malam Abdul Suleiman, reiterated the commitment’s of the scheme in ensuring discipline, patriotism, enthusiasm and to avoid any threat to national peace.
He also advised the corp members to remain security conscious and be law abiding citizens.
He described Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Programme (SAED) during the orientation course as key to address the problems of unemployment in the country while urging corp members to take advantage of the scheme to enable them become self reliants.
He further thanked the House of Representatives for their efforts toward ensuring the actualisation of NYSC trust funds to improve the scheme’s activities.
Also, the Chief Judge of FCT, Justice Baba Hussain represented by Justice Eleojo Eneche stressed the need for corp members to put national interest above their personal interest.
