The 22-year-old shocked many as she beat strong contenders including South Africa’s Tyla, Ghana’s Black Sherif, and fellow Nigerian star Rema.

Ayra Starr has been nominated for several BET categories over the years — including Best New International Act in 2022, Best International Act in 2023, BET Her Award in 2024, and multiple categories this year.
But this is her first time clinching the international win.
