Bello Ahmad Gobir, an engineer, was killed by bandits in Sokoto State’s Sabon Birni Local Government Area.
It was reported that on Sunday, August 25, Bello was slain while travelling to his hometown of Gobir.
This comes amid the mourning of the death of the Emir of Gobir, in Gatawa town, Alhaji Isa Muhammad Bawa, who was murdered by bandits.
A University Professor, Bello Bada, also revealed that bandits kidnapped over 150 people in the community.
Bada, who disclosed this in an interview with Radio France International (rfi) Hausa Service monitored in Kaduna on Sunday, alleged that bandits’ scary activities in the area were due to certain lapses from many quarters.
“This is not the first time a prominent monarch was attacked, but this is the first time a prominent monarch was murdered,” he said.
“The bandits had made a similar attempt on the life of the Emir of Potiskum while he was on the way to Zaria but he narrowly escaped. The Emir of Kauran Namoda escaped death by whiskers, but members of his entourage were killed by the bandits,” he said.
“In Zuru community, a monarch was slaughtered by these bandits, but after some few days, these heinous acts would be completely forgotten as if nothing ever happened, until the bandits strike again.”
