Bello Matawalle, Nigeria’s minister of state for defence and former governor of Zamfara State, has publicly invited incumbent Governor Dauda Lawal to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The invitation was extended during an Eid-el-Kabir homage paid to Matawalle at his residence in Maradun by a large gathering of supporters. Addressing the crowd, Matawalle urged Governor Lawal to abandon what he described as a “hide-and-seek” approach and make his move to the APC official.

According to a statement by Ibrahim Dosara, a former Zamfara commissioner for information, Matawalle expressed readiness to welcome Lawal into the APC, assuring him that there were no personal grievances and that the party represented a united front focused on peace, development, and security in the state.

“Dauda Lawal should come and join the APC rather than the hide-and-seek type of game the governor is currently playing,” Matawalle was quoted as saying.
