Three people who were returning from their farms in the Agagbe Internally Displaced Persons camp were slain by alleged armed herdsmen.
Male adults were alleged to have taken up farming as a means of providing for their families in camps throughout the state.
Monday night, when they were leaving the farm, the victims met their demise.
Terna Jacob, the camp’s previous manager, told our correspondent on Tuesday that the incident had occurred.
The dead were Mr. Ameeya Solomon, 38, of Tse Kuan in Mbabuande council ward, Mr. Adagu Terwase, 40, of Tse Abua in Mbapa council ward, and Master Orkaha Terkende, 16, of Tse Maihwa in Mbabuande council ward. According to Jacob, they were killed as they were returning to Agagbe town from their farms to sleep, as their homes had already been set on fire by armed Fulani herders.
He also mentioned that one of the survivors, Orkaha Terfa, the older brother of the 16-year-old kid killed with others, claimed that while returning from a farm, they were ambushed by suspected herders near the NKST Church in Tse Nyamti.
The three victims, according to Jacob, were ambushed and died while fleeing for their lives.
Based on information obtained by our correspondent, it was reported that two of the deceased were buried, while the third person’s remains were placed at an Agagbe morgue.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Catherine Anene, said she had not received the incident report when called.
