Nigeria has affirmed its support for a two-state solution to resolve the protracted Israel-Palestine conflict and is calling for an immediate ceasefire in the ongoing Israel-Gaza crisis.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to express these positions at the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit, which opens today in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

President Tinubu arrived in Riyadh on Wednesday, November 6, following an invitation from King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga noted that the president will address the escalating violence in the Middle East, underscoring Nigeria’s call for an urgent ceasefire and peaceful resolution to the conflict.

Nigeria will advocate for renewed diplomatic efforts to revive the two-state solution as a sustainable pathway to peace in the region. The Nigerian delegation accompanying the president includes key officials such as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar; National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris; and the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed.
