A man has been apprehended after two people were stabbed in a fight on a busy central London street. Police were called to reports of a brawl on New Oxford Street just after 11.25am on 21 April.

When officers arrived, a man was found with possible life-threatening stab wounds. A woman also received minor injuries during the apparent altercation.

A 29-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. Police said they are not treating the incident as terror-related.

A Met Police spokesperson said: “A man has been arrested following a fight in Camden this morning.

“Police were called at 11.26am on Friday, 21 April to reports of an assault in New Oxford Street, WC1.

“Officers attended and found a man and woman with stab wounds. The man (no further details) has been taken a central London hospital with possible life-threatening injuries.

“The woman, believed to be aged in her 20s, has also been taken to a central London hospital with minor injuries.”

A crime scene is in place and motorists are advised to avoid the area as there are road closures.
