Sheikh Nuru Khalid was barred from ministering at the Mosque for criticizing President Muhammadu Buhari over the repeated attacks by bandits on the Kaduna-bound train from Abuja, as well as the killing and kidnapping of some passengers.
The Imam was suspended by the Apo Legislative Quarters Mosque Committee, which refused to accept President Buhari’s criticism of the Imam’s train attack on the Abuja-Kaduna line.
The Imam had taken a stance similar to that of Nigerian citizens regarding the ineffectiveness of the country’s security system in dealing with the country’s current security crisis. Despite the efforts of the Nigerian military, the police and other security operatives, these terrorists continued to strike with impunity.
Residents of Kaduna were left terrified following the daredevil attack by terrorists. The recent attacks and also the suspension of Sheikh Nuru Khalid sparked mixed reactions both offline and online.
