Before being cremated, a woman who had been proclaimed dead in an accident by her husband unexpectedly came back to life.
52-year-old Berhampur, India resident Bujji Aamma suffered severe burns on February 1st in a house fire. She was treated at MKCG Medical College and Hospital after that, as half of her body was burned.
Mail Online claims that even when the woman went back home, her condition didn’t improve.
She didn’t open her eyes a few days later because the family couldn’t afford to get her into another hospital for additional care.
Sibaram Palo, Aamma’s husband, made arrangements for her to be driven in a hearse to the cremation site since he believed she had passed away.
“We thought she was dead and told others in the locality to arrange a hearse van to carry the body to the cremation ground,” he told the Times of India.
Aamma’s hearse companion, K Chiranjibi, stated that when she woke up, they were almost done building the funeral pyre.
“At first, we were scared because we had never seen such an incident, though we had heard some stories,” Chiranjibi said.
Only thirty minutes after Aamma’s “body” was first taken from her home at 9 a.m., the hearse driver, Khetrabashi Sahu, was called to pick her up from the cremation site.
The same hearse was used to transport her home.
