The winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary that took place in Ondo State over the weekend is Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
With 48, 569 votes, Aiyedatiwa secured the party’s candidacy for the upcoming November 16 governorship election. With 15,343 votes, Mayowa Akinfolarin, his nearest opponent, came in second, and Chief Olusola Oke took third place with 14,865 votes.
The Chairman of the Governorship Primary Election Committee and Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Ododo. Governor Ododo, reflecting on the competitive nature of the primaries, highlighted the rigorous contest that characterized the electoral process.
The primaries held across the 18 council areas of Ondo State, witnessed fervent participation from party members and supporters.
Aiyedatiwa was sworn in as governor of the state on December 27, 2023, following the demise of the former governor,. Rotimi Akeredolu.
