Feyi Daniels, the founder of iReign Christian Ministry, was sentenced to life in prison on Friday by an Ikeja Sexual Offenses and Domestic Violence court for “raping a church member.”
The Lagos-based priest was found guilty by trial judge Rahman Oshodi of raping and sexually assaulting a female worshipper in his church in 2020.
The news men reports that the main timings of the sexual events involving the young pastor are highlighted in this report.
Daniels was accused of sexually assaulting a female assistant pastor at his home in the Lekki neighborhood of Lagos State prior to Friday’s life sentence ruling.
The victim (name withheld) was called to the church’s Lagos headquarters even though she was stationed in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State. She said that Daniels had ordered her to come to his residence in Lekki as punishment for missing a meeting, and when she arrived, he had told her to take off her clothing because he planned to beat her.
She recounted her experience of being raped and added, “We were listening to a pastor’s sermon in the sitting room the next day when he said I should go naked again. I complied, and to my surprise, he also undressed and sexually assaulted me for around half an hour, until my tears, which were not from being a virgin, caused me to start bleeding.
Pastor Daniels was taken into custody after the victim brought the case to the attention of FCID Alagbon in Lagos in 2022.
Daniels’ arraignment for the alleged rape of a church assistant pastor and another woman was ordered by the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions, Ministry of Justice, in March 2023.
Lola Vivour-Adeniyi, the DSVRT’s director, stated that the organization was awaiting the case’s assignment to the appropriate court. Three women were involved in the matter, she said, adding that two of them reported to the agency and the third to the police.
After the victim filed a complaint, Daniels was taken into custody and held for six days before being freed.
Daniels was scheduled to appear at the Ikeja Sexual Offenses and Domestic Violence Court in April 2023, but he did not show up. When the lead investigator did show up at his house, he had moved without warning.
In his self-defense on October 21, 2023, Daniels stated that he thought three of the four women who had accused him of sexual assault had planned to turn against him.
Babajide Boye, the main prosecutor, attempted to prove that Bishop Daniels, the defendant, had a “personal relationship” with the four women by asking questions during cross-examination.
Daniels was given a life sentence today, January 26, for the crime of “raping a church member.”
